Score 92/100 · Drink 2021-2042, Neal Martin, Oct 2019

The 2016 Pommard Les Epenots 1er Cru has a fragrant and floral bouquet, laden with wild strawberry, Morello cherry and rose petal aromas, elegant and refined. The purity is irresistible. The palate is a little candied on the opening, succulent and vivacious, veins of blood orange permeating the red fruit with a dash of spice on the finish. Sheer pleasure, although regrettably I find that it refuses to "kick on" in the glass. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 5 closure)
