The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru is more powerful on the nose than its peers, with wild mint and blood orange touches. It has fine delineation, although it doesn't quite have the detail of the best Les Caillerets. The palate is well-balanced with nectarine and clementine notes, fresh and vibrant with an almost playful finish. It doesn't have the mineral spine of the best Puligny Premier Crus. That said, it is still thoroughly delicious. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Caillerets 1er Cru has a very pure and focused bouquet with apple blossom, wet granite, light nectarine and yellow fruit aromas. The palate is well balanced with a spicy entry, quite focused and poised, maybe just needing a little more tension and mineralité on the finish to be up there with Bouzereau’s best whites.
