Tasting notes
The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru offers ripe raspberry and blackcurrant scents on the nose. It has fine presence and detail, with the oak neatly enmeshed and delineated. With time, it develops minty aromas that are excess to requirements. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and ripe red berry fruit, with just the faintest green edge, which dovetails into a peppery but nicely controlled finish. Quite an alluring Clos de Vougeot. I would afford this a year or two in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (from Grand Maupertuis) is bright, piercing and crystalline. This is a very pretty wine, but it needs to be appreciated on its own terms. I don’t see a ton of Clos Vougeot character; rather, the vintage style speaks most clearly. Readers will find a tonic, energetic Burgundy. - Antonio Galloni
The 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru reveals notes of dark berries, spices, orange zest and toasty oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated palate that's rather taut and firm. It possesses good depth, but it will require some patience.
About the producer

Based in Meursault and farming some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Henri Boillot is a leading address in Burgundy. He crafts fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the estate is best known for its flagship monopole vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère.
