Tasting notes
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret 1er Cru has a slightly musty nose that lacks the clarity of Leflaive's Les Demoiselles. This feels a bit distant and aloof. The palate is well-balanced with tangy orange rind, peach skin and citrus notes that dovetail into a more spicy, animated finish. Yet it doesn't reveal the ambition and chutzpah of the best Les Caillerets. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Well distinguished from the Folatières 2020. Liquorice notes and great vivacity, Smooth-textured yet racy and 'cool' as the vineyard should be. Admirably long. (JR)
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret 1er Cru has a gentle, well-defined bouquet that slowly unfurls in the glass, green apple and light nettle scents intermixed with crushed stone. The palate is well balanced with a little more tension than the Folatières, very harmonious with discrete tropical notes (apricots) surfacing towards the finish. Peachy aftertaste! Seductive.
