Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2021-2033, Neal Martin, Jan 2020

The 2018 Monthélie Les Duresses 1er Cru comes from 1.8 hectares of vine on white marl soils. Blended with 40% whole cluster with a short maceration, it has a delicate raspberry and wild strawberry bouquet, quite floral in style. The medium-bodied palate features fine-grained tannins. Very pure, with a caressing, silky and very seductive finish. This comes recommended. A really superb Monthélie Rouge.

The 2018 Monthélie 1er Cru Les Duresses is also showing very well this year, offering up a pretty bouquet of red berries, ripe Griotte cherries and potpourri. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, and supple but chalky, with lively acids and a mineral finish.
