Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2023-2036, Neal Martin, Jan 2021
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru offers feisty red cherries, blackcurrant and orange rind scents on the nose, touches of tobacco/cigar box lurking in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, maybe just a little rigid at first but it fleshes out and becomes more pliant towards the finish where I feel it is just looking for more precision.

About the producer

Domaine Denis Mortet
This estate, today with Arnaud Mortet at the helm, makes some of Gevrey-Chambertin’s finest wines. Working with 16 hectares, as well as a few négociant parcels, this property makes perfumed and chiselled Pinot Noir.
