Tasting notes
Tasted at the domain in October, the 2019 Spätburgunder Centgrafenberg GG shows an intensely aromatic cherry bouquet. This ripeness, richness and aromatic fruit intensity is reminiscent of the Spätburgunder Tradition at this early stage, yet this is certainly finer, deeper and more complex. Full-bodied, rich and intense yet elegant and fresh on the palate, this is a full-bodied and fleshy, concentrated and stimulating Pinot with lingering salinity and fruit intensity. 13% alcohol. Natural cork.

Still a little reticent on the nose, but already promising in its delightful fragrance of cherry cake and roasted hazelnuts. Quite compact on the palate with plenty of substance, tannins still astringent but not rough. Healthy acidity adds vibrancy to the juicy expression of red fruit. Salty, nutty and roasted nuances bring complexity and elegance to the finish. Fairly mouth-numbing towards the finish, indicating that some time will be needed to express the Centgrafenberg’s full potential. Still a baby. (MS)
Wonderful, perfumed nose thatâs brimming with fine red fruit. Stunning harmony of earthy depths with fine tannins and delicate fruit aromas. Biscuity texture at the long and elegant, dry finish. Drink or hold.
