Tasting notes
The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Perrières 1er Cru has a comparatively opulent bouquet with lush red cherries and cassis aromas on the nose. The oak is nicely integrated, thankfully not overbearing. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity, quite rounded and packed full of juicy black and red fruit with a sorbet-fresh finish. Well made and full of joie-de-vivre . Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Deepish cherry red. Much more open than the Damodes, spicy dark-red fruit and oak sweetness meshed on the nose, the oak quite obvious at the moment. Likewise on the palate, the oak is to the fore but has given a roundness to the relatively firm tannins. Dry and chewy on the finish. All to play for but overall an attractive dark, embryonic finesse. (JH)
