Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,439 g. No marks for the heavy bottle, Domaine Coillot! Plenty of marks, however, for the super-juicy, black-mulberry, turbo-charged carousel of fruit which a little bit of mocha chocolate and savoury toastiness, presumably from some oak, does nothing whatsoever to sedate. I could quite easily have mistaken this for a Pinot from a southern clime. Flashy, plush fruit; plump tannins. If you're looking for a burgundy offering easy opulence over racy focus, this is it. Dark crimson. Really savoury grip. Echt and characterful. Lovely to see so much good wine making it from Marsannay to London! Real structure and vigour here. GV ? (JR)
The 2020 Marsannay Les Boivins is very perfumed on the nose with blueberry, cassis and touches of wilted violet. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, sweet and candied with moderate weight, plush and pastille-like towards the finish that just needs a little more grip.
