Tasting notes
Admirably informative back label. 90% grand cru Chardonnay mainly from Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Disgorged March 2022 after 11 years' ageing. Dosage 4 g/l. 3,300 bottles produced. No malo. Lots of development on the nose. I should imagine this was quite challenging to taste early in its life but is just reaching a point where the tension is not too demanding and the wine now has great life and citrus fruit. Perhaps not quite as persistent as the 2008 Cuvée Alain Thiénot but distinctive and a definite addition to the champagne canon. Tastes bone dry in the lemon/lime spectrum. Clean as a whistle. It's just coming into its own and can offer bracing precision now. Not for hedonists but it should please purists. Long. (JR)
