Located just below the elevation of the Howell Mountain AVA, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lotus Vineyard is a ripe, sumptuous offering. Unlike the Onda, it shows no evidence of warmth. Instead, it boasts elegant, perfumed scents of violets married to black cherries and cassis and underscored by hints of cedar and vanilla. Aged 25 months in new French oak, it's full-bodied in the mouth, managing to be both silky and plush, while also having considerable structure and length. Impressive stuff for sure.

A perfect wine any way you look at it, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lotus Vineyard is another full-bodied, structured wine from Dana, and it's certainly the most tannic of the 2019s. Inky hued, with a blockbuster nose of ripe black and blue fruits, chocolate, graphite, and leafy tobacco, it brings serious richness and depth on the palate, with lots of ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a great, great finish. This is every bit as good as the 2016 and belongs up with the greatest Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon out there. Give bottles 3-4 years and enjoy over the following three decades.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lotus Vineyard is a total stunner. What a wine. Rich, sumptuous and enveloping, the 2019 makes a strong first impression and never lets up. There's tremendous density and power, but tons of layers and overall vibrancy that lend balance. Plum, mocha, licorice, espresso and a kick of new French oak build into the huge, sumptuous finish. As always, the Lotus has a bit more overt oak influence than the other wines, but it works well here. (Drink between 2027-2039) (AG)

Berries, such as brambleberries and blueberries, together with black licorice, tar and asphalt. Full-bodied with rich, layered tannins and hints of chocolate and hazelnut at the end. Muscular and chewy with lovely freshness. A rich yet polished and refined red that needs time to come together. Better after 2026.
