Remarkably deep colour – almost Malbec-like. Concentrated fruit, deep and dense although the tannins are a little edgy and not fully integrated yet. A little drying on the finish. Certainly has a Gevrey character. (AWH)

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes was showing just a touch of reduction on the nose, scents of mulberry and blackberry, a little hawthorn, eventually manifesting. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy, maybe just showing a touch more maceration on the candied finish than necessary, yet overall, pleasant enough.
