Tasting notes
The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru left me perplexed out of barrel, but it proves its mettle in bottle. It has quite an intense bouquet with more black than red fruit, a little musky in quality, though it is well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. With a mixture of red and black fruit, brown spices and tobacco, this Clos de Vougeot is well-structured with a controlled, focused, sapid finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Amélie Berthaut offers mulberry and cassis scents on the nose, perhaps for me, just a little over-ripe? The palate is dense, very powerful, light hints of tinned prune interwoven through the mainly blue fruit, but then showing a touch of reduction on the finish. I wonder if this might have been better if it was picked a couple of days earlier?
