O rganically farmed, 30-year-old vines. Tank sample. Intense, smoky nose and concentrated passion fruit on the palate. Great purity and zest. A bit more complex than the Marchand-Tawse white Ladoix Les Gréchons. (JR)

The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Vergelesses Blanc 1er Cru, picked on September 13/14, offers good intensity on the nose, where leesy green apple scents gain intensity with aeration. The palate is well balanced with freshly sliced pear, gooseberry and light stem ginger notes toward the finish. Drink over the next decade.
