Tasting notes
A certified organic wine, the Cordero di Montezemolo 2018 Barolo Monfalletto has some candied cherry, pressed violet and earthy or ferrous notes that create a long and very polished finish. This wine is made with a selection of fruit from La Morra with vineyards that extend under a towering cedar of Lebanon that has become a symbol of Barolo over its long lifespan. Black licorice appears on the close.

The 2018 Barolo Monfalletto is a bold, fruity wine that should drink well with minimal cellaring. Although not an especially subtle wine, the 2018 offers lovely forward red/plum fruit and plenty of immediacy. Cinnamon, rose petal, spice and blood orange fill out nicely over time. This is an especially juicy, fruity style. Give the tannins a year or two to soften.
La Morra. A blend of grapes from their vineyard in Gattera and Bricco Manescotto. Lustrous mid to deep ruby. Deep fruit nose loaded with minerals, laurel and raw-meat hints. Hint of rhubarb and complex dried-fruit note. Succulent and generous fruit palate with supple acidity and bags of chewy tannins. Great balance and lots of juice. (WS)
