Scents of white pepper, flower blossoms and lychee mark the 2020 Y Series Viognier as being varietally correct, even if it's not a rich, concentrated example. It's medium-bodied, silky-textured and spicy, with a splash of rosewater on the finish. Drink it over the next year.

Full, screwcapped bottle 1,240 g. Indigenous yeasts and presumably sourced fairly widely. Very light but fresh nose without much varietal character, which seeps in to the palate. No one could object to this as a florally styled dryish white, even if Viognier devotees might feel very slightly short-changed. (JR)
