Tasting notes
The 2020 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has a tightly coiled bouquet that requires time in the glass. White fruit, lavender oil and crushed stone appear over time, but the nose is not giving much away at the moment. Returning after ten minutes, it has opened up, offering candied orange peel and vanilla extract. The palate is fresh and vibrant, a killer line of acidity, taut and linear but with real penetration on the finish. With impressive sapidity, this is a Meursault with verve. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet that leaps from the glass with wonderful orange pith, grilled hazelnut and pine nuts, a touch of smoke, très Meursault. The palate is well balanced with. a fine bead of acidity, fresh and poised, quite spicy with lemongrass notes lending it an almost Asian twist on the finish. For some reason, I’m drinking this with some Pad Thai! Superb.
