Tasting notes
Looking back at my notes, I never published the 2007 Turó d'en Mota, so I paid special attention to the potential 2007 Enoteca Turó d'en Mota, which was disgorged for the occasion of this tasting after 15 months and four months with lees in bottle. 2007 was a very dry year, 330 liters compared with the historical average of 528 liters, and that was hard after an already dry 2005 and 2006. The winter was quite warm and dry, and it rained more in spring and summer. The grapes were picked the 20th of August, the same date as in 2006, and they picked 4,309 kilos, which translated into 22 hectoliters per hectare. This has a golden color and lots of smoky notes; it's toasty and very powerful. It is perfumed with notes of aromatic herbs, more Mediterranean, with intense saline notes and hints of iodine. At one point, it reminded me of prawn heads...
