2016 Tara Syrah

I am very impressed by the 2016 Red Wine 2, which is now 100% Syrah, as they have removed the small percentage of Merlot they used in previous years. The Syrah has gained in varietal expression and is now recognizable with violets, smoked meat and spicy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, with very fine tannins and a tasty, clearly salty finish. There is a lot of salt in the soils, so I'm not surprised this is salty. The best Red Wine 2 to date. It keeps opening up and growing in the glass. Pure and impressive. 6,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2018.
