Cask sample. Pure, cedary citrus nose with an attractive stone-dust overlay. There’s a light touch of oak, in both flavour and texture, but the fruit takes the lead. Bright, living and persistent. You could drink this now but I think it will be even better after another year in bottle. (JH)

The 2021 Monthélie Cuvée Miss Armande is open with red cherries and strawberry fruit, just missing the delineation of some of its peers. The palate is a bit hard on the entry with sour cherry and grainy tannins, but it feels rather coarse on the finish.
