The 2020 Côte Rôtie Rose Pourpre is more masculine and mineral-laced, with some obvious minerality in its smoked black fruits, pepper, and scorched earth aromas and flavors. There's always a touch of rusticity in Gaillard’s wines, but I love the overall balance, it has ripe tannins, and like the Esprit de Blonde, it’s going to keep for 20 years or more. Do your best to hide bottles for at least 3-4 years.

100% Syrah. Cask sample. Ripe and generous, the aromatics on the limit of overripe. Light but finely worked tannins. Some persistence. Feels like it will be accessible earlier. (JL)
