Deep violet color. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes candied cherry, black raspberry, cola, candied flowers and exotic spices. Vibrant red and dark berry preserve and spicecake flavors show excellent clarity and steadily deepen as the wine opens up. Smooth, well-knit tannins add gentle grip to a wonderfully long, spice- and mineral-driven finish that leaves a sweet violet pastille note behind.

95% Syrah, 5% Viognier. Tank sample. Deep colour, meaty, spicy, floral, violets. Very appealing. Has a lovely freshness allied with the power and concentration expected. Lovely precision on the palate. Crisp, long, elegant and with a lingering finish. Very classy. (AWH)
Similar incense, spice, and dried flower notes emerge from the 2020 Côte Rôtie Esprit De Blonde, yet it brings another level of elegance and purity on the palate. Already complex, medium to full-bodied, ripe, and polished, it's certainly an outstanding Côte Rôtie and will benefit from just a handful of years in the cellar and have two decades of overall longevity.
