2015 Corton Vergennes Grand Cru

Tasting notes
Quarter hectare. Oatmeal and lemon fruit combined with a light, stony quality. This has noticeably greater depth and richness than the Champ Canet, as you might expect (from the appellation and the price). Firm fruit, light grip, good length.

The 2015 Corton-Vergennes Grand Cru has an attractive bouquet that needed a little coaxing: citrus fruit, white chocolate, almond and touch of wild mushroom that emerges with time. There is a lot going on there. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, hints of white pepper and lemongrass, gently building in the mouth towards a saline finish that just lacks some length on the aftertaste. Not bad overall, although I prefer the two Puligny premier crus this year.
