Tasting notes
Scents of plums, wild berries, sweet spices, raw cocoa and orange rind preface the 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Chatelots, a medium to full-bodied, ample and lively wine that's deep and concentrated, with bright acids and powdery tannins that gently assert themselves on the finish. As with all of Barthod's wines, it's built to age, though the charm of the vintage makes it deceptively approachable already.

Cask sample. Mid to light cherry. Ethereal and totally seductive scent. So utterly Chambolle. But seriously seductive not cheap and flirty. Then there’s backbone, slim like that of an acrobat or dancer but with obvious strength. Firm, dry elegant texture. Great length. (JH)
The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Chatelots 1er Cru is very perfumed and floral on the nose of red cherry and wild strawberry mixed with orange pith and light tobacco scents. The medium-bodied plate is well balanced with grainy tannins and good grip toward the tight finish. Maybe a little stern and serious compared to the domaine’s other cuvées, but it should age well.
