The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru—as usual, a blend of Taillepieds and Clos des Chênes—is lovely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries, raw cocoa and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless, with tangy acids and a concentrated core of fruit, it's bright and elegant, built for slow evolution in the cellar.
The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru has a little more earthiness on the nose than the other cuvées, perhaps the stems here a little more apparent at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, taut and crisp, quite structured, just a touch of greenness on the finish.
About the producer

Domaine Jean-François Coche-Dury is one of the most sought-after names in Burgundy, famed for producing some of the most expensive white wines in the world. The demand for these fiercely collected wines far outstrips supply.
