2016 Volnay Clos des Chenes

(from an "almost normal" yield, according to Jean Laurent): Full red-ruby. Slightly reticent scents of medicinal black cherry, dark raspberry, coffee and menthol, with a strong spice element. Fatter and sweeter than the Beaune Clos des Mouches, showing an old-vines creaminess of texture to its cherry and spice flavors. This essentially supple, easygoing wine finishes with substantial dusty tannins and sneaky length. In an elegant style, but a bit less intense than the Beaune Clos des Mouches.
