Tasting notes
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de l'Arlot 1er Cru is another wine entirely reduced on the nose. There's a touch of Wellington boot behind the dark berry fruit and iodine. It just misses some terroir expression and Pinoté. The palate is medium-bodied, warm and Tuscan in style on the entry, with plush black cherries mixed with truffle and black pepper, though I find this a little heavy on the finish. I was perturbed when the identity of this was revealed as it showed much better in barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Deep crimson. Fragrance gives the impression of trying hard to escape this concentrated wine! Odd sweetness on the palate and then slightly bitter on the end. Rather sudden finish. (JR)
An unusually rich and muscular rendition of this site, the 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de l'Arlot mingles notes of sweet berry fruit and plums with notions of warm spices, rose petals, orange rind and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, firm and structured, with a deep core of fruit and lively acids, it will demand patience.
