Saturated magenta. Highly perfumed, spice-tinged red and dark berry scents, along with hints of vanilla, licorice and smoky bacon. Juicy and broad in the mouth, offering gently sweet cherry and black raspberry flavors and a spicy touch of cracked pepper. A salty olive note appears on a long, smooth finish that's framed by discreet tannins. One-third whole clusters and 20% new French oak.

The 2018 Saint Joseph comes all from the northern part of the Northern Rhône and offers more peppery stems, violets, and herbal notes as well as a medium-bodied, fresh, elegant style on the palate. With fine tannins and rock-solid overall balance, it should end up being an outstanding wine.
