Score 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2004

(from vines dating back to 1912) Bright ruby. Vibrant, pure aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice. Fat, juicy and sweet, with nicely delineated black fruit flavors lifted by violet. Light on its feet, and better balanced than the 2001.

Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2008-2025, Robert Parker, Dec 2003

The 2002 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard (85-year old vines) exhibits an opaque purple color followed by aromas of ink, graphite, minerals, licorice, smoke, and blackberry fruit. Powerful, dense, and excruciatingly tannic, it will be at its finest between 2008-2025. NOTE: This is an estimated price per bottle. Tel. (707) 963-0940; Fax (707) 963-8683
