Score 92/100 · Drink 2016-2027, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2014

An addition to the range, the 2012 Lazy Susan Ranch, the Vineyardist's new second wine, shows just how magical this site is. Iron, savory herbs and dark red plums all flesh out in a distinctive, mountain Cabernet Sauvignon endowed with a real sense of place. Graphite, raspberry jam, spices, new leather and dried flowers are all laced into the expressive finish. The 2012 was aged in 100% new oak and expresses all of the signatures of this site, but with less overall intensity than the flagship Vineyardist.

Score 91/100 · Drink 2014-2026, Robert Parker, Oct 2014

The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Lazy Susan Ranch is really a second-label selection of much younger vines from the estate, and this in itself is an outstanding wine. It achieved 14.8% alcohol, was aged in 100% new French oak for 21 months and 225 cases were produced. Deep purple with plenty of blackcurrant fruit, licorice, loamy soil scents and wet gravelly minerality, the wine is dense, opulent and typically 2012 with its lushness and pure, plush fruit. Drink it over the next 10 or 12 years.
