(14.9% alcohol): Dark red. Aromas of dark berries, flowers and licorice, plus a hint of black pepper. Sweet dark berry and spice flavors come across a slightly loose-knit and lacking in nuance. Offers a chewy texture but this Cabernet is not especially rich or deep. Finishes with a touch of bitterness and moderate length.

Dark purple. Smoky blackcurrant and candied plum on the nose, with dusty minerals adding focus. Juicy and concentrated, with powerful dark fruit flavors, velvety texture and building spiciness. Offers impressive vivacity for a wine with such depth, finishing brisk and clean.

The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa offers beautiful black currant fruit interwoven with notions of licorice, cedar, and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, opulent, and fleshy, it should drink nicely for 12-15+ years. Previously recommended: 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa (90), 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard (95+), 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard (92+), 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Hyde Vineyard (91), 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard (94). Dark red. Energetic and spicy, with fresh redcurrant and cherry aromas and a hint of rooty sassafras. Lush, open-knit dark fruit flavors display very good depth and energy, picking up gentle oak spice notes with air. Subtle tannins build on the finish, adding grip and focus.
