Tasting notes
The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has another very attractive nose, borrowing some of the darker fruit notes from the preceding Premier Cru from Drouhin and commingling them with a judicious sprinkling of white pepper and sage. The aromas unfold with each swirl of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins, but there is real weight and presence to this Chambolle, notwithstanding very pure and enticing fruit. With just a prickle of Chinese 5-spice on the finish, this is a very delicious and intellectually-satisfying Chambolle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru comes from three small plots on the south part of the first section of the incline. The nose offers dark berry fruit infused with wet limestone aromas, very well focused and conveying palpable energy. The medium-bodied palate delivers pure red berry fruit laced with white pepper and allspice. Wonderfully energetic and quite linear on the finish. A stylish and quite intellectual Chambolle-Musigny.
