Tasting notes
From dolomitic limestone (Muschelkalk) and picked on 9 and 10 September, the intensely yellow 2020 Riesling Clos Windsbuhl offers a pure but deep, rich and generous, very complex and refreshing bouquet with darker-toned fruit, then later tropical fruit aromas, such as mangoes, and iodine notes appear. Absolutely fascinating! Very intense but pure and refined on the palate, with fascinating citrus flavors and acidity as well as fine chalky tannins, this is a gorgeous, highly refined and elegant, lush and generous Riesling that is completely driven by the terroir rather than the fruit or vintage. It was bottled with a stunning 12.4% stated alcohol and a natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2022.

Limestone. Lime flavours and great reticence and chewiness. Not nearly ready yet. (JR)
