Tasting notes
The 2019 Pommard Epenots 1er Cru has a slight reduction on the nose, but underneath there is some pretty redcurrant and cranberry fruit that should blossom with continued bottle age. The palate is taut and fresh with a silver bead of acidity. Slightly tart at first, energetic and tensile, with a brisk and mineral-driven finish, this is definitely one of the superior Pommards of this vintage. I can see this improving with bottle age. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Revisited in bottle, the 2019 Pommard 1er Cru Les Epenots is already very expressive, bursting with aromas of plums and raspberries mingled with peonies, rose petals, sweet spices and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, melting and sensual, it's charming and enveloping, with an ample core of fruit and a long, saline finish. It's so giving out of the gates that it wouldn't be a crime to open a bottle now.
