Tasting notes
There is a lovely, lifted scent to the contained, restrained nose of Domaine de Chevalier Blanc in 2021. It is absolutely delicious, with a juicy, almost waxy texture, brimming with white peach and ripe apricot fruit. There is fantastic backbone of acidity giving the wine great poise, beautifully balanced, with plenty of flesh to the fruit. It has an electric finish with mineral, saline notes, while still remaining gorgeously opulent. This is a fabulous wine in 2021, that is just so moreish – the finest quality in any wine. 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Sémillon

I always love the white from this estate, and they've certainly hit a home run in 2021. Based on 75% Sauvignon and 25% Semillon that will see 18 months in 35% new barrels, it offers a vibrant, vivid bouquet of ripe limes, crushed citrus, and chalky minerality, which turns more salty and subtly marine-influenced on the palate. With terrific concentration, medium-bodied richness, and a great finish, it's one of the focused, pure, racy whites that still brings density and depth. Bravo.
The 2021 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc has quite a bit of textural depth and resonance, but at the same time, I feel the energy level here is a bit low. Lemon confit, almond, sage, chamomile and white flowers caress the palate. I like the depth, but wish there was more vibrancy.
The 2021 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, picked September 13–23 at 40hL/ha, has a captivating, complex bouquet of yellow flowers, white peach, wet limestone and just a faint hint of elderflower in the background. The taut palate is well-balanced with a superb line of acidity. Conveying tangible energy from start to finish, this builds in the mouth toward a persistent finish that fans out gloriously. One of the best Domaine de Chevalier whites that I have tasted in 20-plus years.
