Tasting notes
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes, from 60 to 80-year old vines, has a powerful bouquet with ebullient dark cherry, violet and cassis notes, a hint of melted chocolate in the background. The palate is well balanced, quite intense with sappy black cherry and boysenberry fruit vying for attention on the finish. You get the feeling this is holding something in reserve so give it 5-6 years in the cellar.

(from Fouch res, Les Mombies, Les Babilli res, Nazoires, Les Mal Carr es and Les Chardannes). Ripe and reasonably layered aromas of poached plum, spice and dark currant complement the nicely rich and voluminous flavors that possess excellent punch if limited refinement as the firm and almost chewy finish is borderline rustic. Delicious but not particularly Chambollesque. (87-90)/2028+
