Tasting notes
The 2013 Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Spätlese was picked later than the Steffensberg and due to to dry winds end of October caused overripe and strongly concentrated berries with high must weights and acidity. With 100 grams of residual sugar and an acidity of 10.2 grams the wine is very clear, intense and open on the nose where ripe and sweet fruit and discreet honey flavors are intertwined with flinty slate aromas. Very elegant on the palate this is a salty, minerally flavored wine with a firm mineral structure that seems much less sweet than it is. Absolutely stimulating in the finish and provided with a great aging potential.

Again a slight herbal note at first, opening up to stony citrus. Pretty sweet on the palate and some boiled sweets (hard candy) on the finish, which is a little intrusive. (JH)
