Tasting notes
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a tightly wound nose: darker fruit with perhaps a little more new oak, though it is simpatico with the fruit. Touches of tobacco come through, and it gains complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins. It is one of the more sapid Cazetiers, gaining weight towards the finish with plenty of grip. Solid, yet there is class and sophistication built into this wine. Very promising. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Mid ruby; ripe red berries and raspberries again; there’s a dignified solidarity about this. No mucking about. The red-fruit centre is so concentrated it could be grand cru… Very beautiful wine, very open. Spectacular! (MH)
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Cazetiers 1er Cru is around two-thirds whole bunch, the stems nicely integrated and lending real freshness to the red berry and sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, harmonious and smooth, a little chalkiness towards the finish that is very poised and persistent. This is excellent, potentially one of Leroux's best cuvées.
