Score 96/100 · Drink 2022-2028, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2021
As always, the 2019 Chardonnay The Coast from this estate is made in a richer, toasty, almost nutty style, yet it carries it beautifully. Revealing a light to medium gold hue as well as a beautiful perfume of ripe orchard fruit, caramelized citrus, toasted green almonds, and subtle background oak, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, layered texture, a solid spine of acidity, and a great, great finish. This may be one of my favorite vintages of this cuvée to date. It shows better integration of its oak, a great spine of acidity, and a clean finish. Beautifully done, it will benefit from another 6-12 months of bottle age, and I suspect it will see its tenth birthday in fine form.
