Tasting Notes
A primarily sanguine and umami nose draws balance from sweet, slightly astringent notes of plum, blueberry and boysenberry. The berries flourish on the palate, but acid brings out a latent mix of pepper and spices to preserve balance, while silky, opaque tannins provide framing.

The 2020 Palazzi is 100% Merlot made according to the highest standards by a winemaker, the late Andrea Franchetti, who strived for perfection. From his beloved Tenuta di Trinoro in Sarteano, with its infinite skies and rolling landscapes, this wine shows plump fruit, blackberry, plum, spice and campfire ash. From a hot vintage, the fruit is beautifully ripened but certainly not in an exaggerated manner. The wine shows softness, tension and supple texture. This bottle awards a lot of intensity and charm. Only 5,000 were made.
The 2020 Palazzi is packed with dark fruit, cloves, leather and bittersweet chocolate. Rich, deep and quite potent, the 2020 is another extroverted wine in this range. There is some grittiness in the tannin, otherwise, the 2020 is very nicely done and quite promising, especially if those tannins soften.
Shows pure black cherry and blackberry fruit, along with olive, wild herb and mineral accents. Delivers ample structure, but overall the impression is one of velvety texture and terrific harmony. Vibrant finish, where a salty impression lingers. Approachable now, yet will improve over time. Merlot. Best from 2025 through 2042. 381 cases made, 120 cases imported.
