Tasting notes
From a 1.5-hectare vineyard in La Possonnière planted on sandstone in 2014 adjacent to the Clos de la Hutte, the 2019 Savennières Clos de Frémine offers a polished, clear, intense, elegant, remarkably fine and delicately complex bouquet of ripe fruits (pears) intertwined with fine notes of crushed and weathered mineral-rich sandy stones. Silky, round and playful on the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied and very intense Chenin with beautiful balance, terroir-driven intensity, lingering salinity and a sustainable finish. Aged in 500- and 600 liter barrels, the 2019 is a complete, finessed, stimulating and very seductive Chenin—a clear step ahead compared to the 2018. Very long and full of refined energy. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in January 2022.

An elegant and pure style that offers a delightful silken texture. The 2019 Clos de Fremine floats delicately, almost as if you are tasting a cloud, despite containing plenty of intensity in its focused core of fruit. There's a burst of fresh acidity and a bristle of fine-grained texture; whether that's the tannin or the soil, it's there on the finish. I could tell you it tastes of apples and citrus, but this is a wine that seems to care less about fruit descriptors and more about the essence of its place.
