The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru brings another level of refinement, offering a great perfume of spiced darker berries, dried herbs, and flowers. Medium to full-bodied on the palate and wonderfully textured, it has great tannins, no hard edges, and just about perfect balance. Pretty much brilliant on all levels, it's going to be interesting to compare this to the 2018 and 2019 over the coming two decades.

Cask sample. Deep ruby; sullen grandeur and strapping. Extremely ripe and rich. Violets again. Really very long and irrepressible. (MH)
The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a little more charm and clarity on the nose compared to the Clos de la Roche, more delineation nd better oak integration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine acidity, a little firmness towards the finish where I want to see Bonnes-Mares’s sensuality. But this should age nicely in bottle.
