Tasting notes
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Baudines 1er Cru has an oaky, feisty and lively bouquet, perhaps with just a touch of volatility, though it doesn't impede the fruit profile. The palate is well-balanced with a resinous entry and almond and hazelnut touches. It's almost Meursault-like style. Oatmeal hints appear towards the slightly dry finish. I am not sure about the longevity of this wine, and there might be a very slight cork taint. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Baudines 1er Cru is fragrant and tender on the nose, lovely yellow plum and white peach scents, pine nuts and litchi. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This is taut and fresh with perhaps the best salinity on the finish of Pillot’s 2020s. Excellent.
