Tasting notes
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru is a little more exotic on the nose—quite sumptuous and lavish, seemingly picked a little later than its peers and possibly with more skin maceration. The palate is medium-bodied with a grainy texture and comes across rather bitter, showing graphite infused black fruit that lends it a soupçon of the Médoc. This is a bit drier on the finish thank I would prefer. Unlovable (as Morrissey once sang). Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

An elegant middleweight, Leroux's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is showing very well, exhibiting notions of raspberries, orange rind, rose petals and plums. Medium-bodied, perfumed and pretty, with lively acids and ripe tannins, it concludes with a perfumed finish.
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru contains just over two-thirds whole bunch. It has a fragrant nose of incense and lavender-infused, sensual red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins on the entry. Very citric and structured. The terroir comes through beautifully on the finish. Excellent.
