Spicy and compelling layers unfold in the 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baroncole, which displays a rich ruby color and reveals aromas of sandalwood, wild cherries, blood orange, white pepper, and anise. Impressive all the way through without weight, it offers a highly refined yet noble structure, with chiseled, fine tannins, mouthwatering freshness, and a long, mineral-toned finish that leaves its haunting perfume behind. A superb offering from this estate, it’s hard to resist now, but it will only improve if given time properly cellared. It’s a truly stunning wine.

I remain firmly impressed by this beautiful wine made with 97% Sangiovese and 3% Canaiolo. The certified organic 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baròncole is now offered at a significantly lower price than I have seen in past vintages. However, the wine's quality remains exceptional, with an exacting or deeply etched quality, strong lines and careful construction. The architecture of the wine is exceptional, leading to aromas of bright fruit, dried flowers and spice. The vineyard soils see schistous galestro, limestone alberese and tuffaceous clay sediment. This is a production of 16,136 bottles and a few magnums. This is seriously worth your attention.
The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baroncole is a pretty rich, hedonistic wine. Black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather, licorice and game add to an impression of gravitas that is reinforced by burly tannins. It will be interesting to see how the 2019 develops. Today, it is very much on the rustic side of things. Aeration helps though, so we will see where this goes.
