Tasting notes
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru has a much more rambunctious bouquet than the previous wine. Forward yellow plum, Mirabelle, sunny aromatics with a honeyed aspect follow through. It just needs more delineation and a sense of place. The palate is medium-bodied with that "sunny" theme continuing, more tropical fruit than its peers, and hints of pineapple emerging with time. Yet the acidity upholds the freshness of this Puligny, and it delivers a persistent, peppery finish. N.B. With aeration there is a suggestion of TCA, hence my question mark. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Grainy, tense nose and lots of racy, 'green' acidity on the palate. Very youthful but it should all fall into place. (JR)
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru has a focused and taut bouquet, a fine bead of acidity, light apple blossom and earthy scents emerging with time. The palate is well defined with good concentration, a fine bead of acidity, weight with a grippy finish. A lot of Puligny in your glass here!
