Deep magenta. An expansive, sharply detailed bouquet displays highly perfumed blueberry, black raspberry, candied violet, smoky mineral and exotic spice. Juicy and lithe on the palate, offering intense red and blue fruit preserve, allspice and black cardamom flavors that stain the palate while showing no excess weight. There's something Pinot-like going on here. Finishes extremely long and appealingly sweet, with building florality, polished tannins and a resonating mineral note.

NB vintage! 95% Syrah, 5% Viognier. Aged 18 months in barrel (25% new oak). Crimson hue. Ripe but elegant nose that is already aromatically quite expressive. Smoky, dark-fruit notes with a hint of nutmeg and pepper. Palate again ripe but juicy and zesty with a fine grain of tannin. Has a sort of weightlessness, the acidity keeping it alive and appetising. The 2019 Côte Rôtie Blonde Du Seigneur comes all from the southern end of the appellation (Tupin and Lancement) and saw 18 months in barrel. It saw roughly 10% stems and 5% Viognier. It’s a beautiful, feminine, seamless Côte Rôtie offering classic red and black fruits, a kiss of minerality, and subtle woodsmoke on the nose. Medium-bodied, balanced, and elegant, I’d happily drink bottles any time over the coming 10-12 years.

A blend of grapes from Bassenon, Maison Rouge and Lancement, the 2019 Cote Rotie Blonde du Seigneur contains about 5% Viognier. Notes of violets and purple raspberries appear on the nose, joined by peppery spice and hints of licorice, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, silky and deep, with a long, mouthwatering finish that echoes of cherries and raspberries.
