Tasting notes
80 year old vines, 100% whole bunch vinification, one third new wood,13.2% alcohol, the first vines to be picked. Rich deep crimson colour. The bouquet suggests power but the detail must wait. A very rich ripe ball of fruit in the mouth, succulent, more a white soil style of Bonnes Mares. Very complete, with just a fraction of torrefaction to add character at the end.

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru comes from 80-years old vines that was harvest over five morning, one hour each day and vinified in the same vat of course. Blended with 50% whole bunch and matured in 25% new oak, it has a well-defined bouquet with rose petals, red berry fruit, just a very faint hints of menthol in the far distance. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, fresh and vibrant, lightly spiced towards the finish that feels linear and strict. This Amoureuses does not want to give too much away at the moment but the length in the mouth cannot be denied and augurs well for the future.
