Tasting notes
The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet with more red than black fruit, truffle and light sous-bois scents. This is nicely focused, and the oak is neatly enmeshed, relatively modern in style. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, slightly confit-like entry and hints of marmalade infusing the black fruit. Maybe it was just picked a little late, with a little heat on the finish. Close, but no cigar. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
