This was one of the most complex Savigny Premiers Crus from Pavelot in 2020. Described as more discreet and linear, the wine has a lovely mineral bent with light, aromatic, bitter orange zest and grilled herbal notes that mingle with more typical ripe strawberry and red cherry fruit of Savigny – making for a complex palate. The tannins are very fine but bring impressive depth. There is a real linear, verticality to the wine’s structure with a crunchy, mineral and perfumed finish.

The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Guettes 1er Cru has a taut and crisp bouquet with black cherries, touches of menthol and violet, opulent yet showing more delineation than some of Pavelot’s other cuvées. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins counterbalanced by a fine bead of acidity, lightly spiced with a cohesive finish. Very fine.
